Seizing opportunity has always been portrayed as an endeavor that’s easy and straightforward. Books, movies and tv shows are all culprits of simplifying the entrepreneurial insight needed to discern trash from treasure. It takes a trained eye to envision possibilities that many would overlook.
Having this skill is a critical tool in any entrepreneurial endeavor. Without it, we would simply follow the person in front of us, down the beaten path. It takes a different type of person to see freedom when others see failure, and profits when others see poverty. When you establish this pioneering vision and adopt the proper mindset, you unlock a world of possibilities.
You’ll see untapped potential and create value from nothing like a modern day alchemist. For example, the individual who squeezed sweet lemonade out of a sour fruit was an innovative person worthy of high praise. Instances like this is a tribute to abstract thinking and the many benefits an experimental mind can contribute.
It’s not a matter of resources, but rather resourceful. Doing your best with what you have has always been a staple of any achievement. Your start point should hold no bearing on the destination. In other words, if you can’t run, walk, if you can’t walk, crawl.
Now, this type of thinking does require some training. To master it, we must embrace our curiosity and assume nothing. All possibilities should be discussed rather than discarded and should be kept as an outlet for options. When we let our minds roam, we open untapped creativity capable of building fascinating inventions for the future.
For this reason, creative minds, are like modern day kings conquering foreign lands known as untapped potential. Once you get a grasp of this ability, it won’t be something you soon forget. Just like what’s seen can’t be unseen, once you have entered this state its impossible to go back.
This is why so many entrepreneurs have multiple business ventures. They see the world through a different lens that has unrealized gains for those willing to accept the challenge. By going forth and tapping into this arena of ambiguity, you become the sole player in a space with incredible upside.
For example, Elon Musk had an issue as many others in the late ‘90s. He wanted a secure way to make purchases online for products with the ease of a typical store. With much thought and conjecture, Paypal was born.
Fast forward to the early 2000’s and gas guzzling vehicles polluting the atmosphere, burning fossil fuels became an increasingly stringent issue. With no alternatives to fuel consuming vehicles, Musk conceived Tesla. Tesla is now the leader in electric car manufacturing and the most valuable automaker in the U.S. surpassing GM and Ford.
These are just a few of his many successful endeavors which also include Space X, Solar City, and Hyperloop.
This goes to show that an eye for opportunity, coupled with ambition has the potential to not only make you money but shape the world as we know it. In Napoleon Hill’s book, “Think and Grow Rich” he states, “whatever the mind of a man can conceive and believe it can achieve.” There are simply no limitations to our ability except the ones that we assign to ourselves.
the real question is what are you going to do when life gives you lemons?
